Istanbul Modern Museum X Eero Saarinen

In this project, it was expected to redesign the Istanbul Modern Museum complex with a different architect's approach.

The architect that was assigned to me was Eero Saarinen. With the research done in the area, and with the research done on Saarinen's work, the design principles for the project formed;

1. The urban area is a tourist attraction zone and one of Istanbul's oldest areas. And it is also an area for public to have a relationship with water. So the pedestrian access and public spaces are important.

2. It is also an area where a building can effect the Istanbul's silhouette from the sea if not built carefully.

3. Based on Saarinen's projects, building a sculpture like building is important. His style is simple geometric shapes on plan but sculptures as a mass. Due to the mentioned silhouette risk, the architect might have chose to built a frame like he did on gateway arch.
