Rebuilding the City





With the previously mentioned three approaches from Nier Automata Research, the team decided on the three main concepts for the game.

First, from Nier Automata, 3 distinct building styles were picked and from these styles building pieces were created.

Then the team decided on the main mechanic of the game, layering the worlds. In Rebuilding the City, the team expects players to keep building upwards to unlock new game worlds and create their own unified world with different pieces. In the game, player starts with three different areas that can be easy distinguished from each other. And they can only continue with the same type of pieces. But after they start building, they get the freedom of using any piece.


The team expects player to be careful with the way they built for two reasons; one, the pieces change when they interact with one and another and two, the game expects players to reach a certain point to unlock the next world. This game is a building design game for its players and wants players to design their own unique game worlds.


In my opinion, the most enjoyable part of this project was to build the environment in a colourful way and modelling the pieces to fit perfectly no matter which piece the player chooses.
