1. The layered world of Nier. They showed the change in the history of Nier's world with layers in architecture and urban design.
2. How Nier merged different architectures to create one world. While it is visible that Nier has mulltiple different architectural styles, they merge and build the world perfectly.
3. The changes in the world based on events. The ruined environment of Nier gets more destroyed during time and changes depending on the fights, team wanted to use a similar type of change.
For me the most enjoyable and entertaining part of this research was seeing how Yasuyuki Kaji, Kazuma Koda, Shohei Kameoka and their team used their concept art, environment and lighting skills to tell Nier's story in their world design. I loved analysing the design decisions they took and put them into an architect's perspective. Creating architectural diagrams for their world was inspiring.
